The Mansions

This magnificent terrace of six three-storeyed houses called 'The Mansions' was built in 1889. They are, thankfully, heritage listed so we can only hope that they will be around for many years to come. One of the famous inhabitants was Dr Lilian Cooper who was the first female doctor registered in Queensland.

Nathalie: She qualified in 1890 in the UK and moved to Brisbane in 1891 with her lesbian partner. Despite having to overcome various obstacles, she was, apparently, a very popular and highly competent Dr.

Perth Daily & Cathy: It would be so sad if these old buildings had been demolished...we have so little of our early European history left.

It's a terrific building.
In fact, a lot of 'British Empire' building looks like this when it's created in hot countries. India has very similar styled buildings.
