Old and New

Looking across from the modern council offices is the old Queensland Government Treasury building. The frontage that you see here was completed in 1889. Old money has become new money with this grand old building because it is now the casino. Interesting, isn't it, that both buildings are great places where a lot of money is wasted?

Money makes the world go around
...the world go around
...the world go around.
Money makes the world go around
It makes the world go 'round.

HiAL, this is really a great and interesting view, I like the contrast between old and new.
Very well composed photo.

You've captured this nicely. I like the mirroring of the white tent tops and the clouds, too. (And thanks for the great feedback about yesterday's photo at la fourchette!)

Thanks Cara.

Sometimes it is hard to get the right angle with these buildings, but I think this worked.

Merci beaucoup...et merci!

It's quite ironic Al that in one building people are voluntarily wasting their money and in the other there are people being PAID to waste their money!! Wish that beautiful old building was being used as a library/museum/art gallery..anything but a casino...

Oh I agree with you, but at least as a casino they will look after it...I hope! I'm not 100% sure but I think the government still own the building.
