Banksia

When Sir Joseph Banks, an English botanist, set sail with Lieutenant James Cook on the first great voyage in 1768, little did he know that he would encounter many very unusual plants and species of vegetation never before seen in England.  He became a great collector banksia species, so named after him. The banksia species are native to Australia. This one is the golden candlestick banksia.

Very nice. They look a bit like loofahs, too.
