Respite

How is it that a rain shower in the sun can look so lovely? After what seems like weeks of rain, and wall-to-wall grey skies, the sun broke through and we are all smiling again.

Having lived in Hawaii as a little girl, I know the wonderful scent of damp earth as it's warmed by the sun. This image evokes that memory for me. Nice.

We have a bit of snow in the south of France today!

I really love the power of our senses...they evoke such deep feelings within us, for better or worse. Please this was a good one for you. Would love the snow...please send by return post!

Beautiful light. I love those tropical rains. I can smell the earth and plants from here... You're in summer lucky you :)

Beautiful image Al. When we lived in Africa and it rained when the sun shone we called it a 'monkeys wedding' , don't ask me why!!

Thanks Pierre. The rains are OK...it's the humidity I don't like. But the smell is wonderful, isn't it? Yes, still another 3 months of summer weather here.

Thanks...what an unusual name 'monkey's wedding'. I'd love to know where that came from. Was it a general term or just within your family?
